What a year to be a Wedding Musician!

Weddings and Musicians are “unviable” – What a year to be a Wedding Musician.

These past 16 months have been among the most difficult of my life as a Wedding Musician and Singer for events First, I was asked to shield for 12 weeks as a ‘clinically extremely vulnerable’ person. That 12 weeks seemed like hell, I was devastated. I was scared and worried about how we would survive without an income for 3 months. Little did I know!

16 months later, here I am. I have performed a total of 7 gigs since it started when I normally average over 100 per year. I shielded for 10 months – not 3! I have never missed my work more. I miss my weddings, my corporate events, and parties. Right now, I would perform literally anywhere – I miss it that much.

Then the extension of restrictions has made it even more difficult, however, I have managed to perform 2 events in the last couple of months (in person) and 1 digital wedding (which the bride and groom will agree – was a very long time coming! So happy for you Steph & Cam!)

This video is a clip from the digital wedding (THE FIRST EVER FOR ME) I performed for Steph & Cam who married in Oban, Scotland. I was gutted I couldn’t be there in person but I am so grateful to have been a part of your special day! FINALLY!

I was then lucky enough to be invited to perform at a rescheduled wedding for Rebecca & Matt in the beautiful Lake District at Broadoaks Country House Hotel. A stunning venue for a lovely couple.

Most recently, I was asked to perform at short notice for a corporate event for United Carpets (courtesy of the wonderful guys over at Alive Network) at the Yorkshire-based Forest Pines Hotel near Scunthorpe. I had an amazing night, with wonderful support from the guests who had been waiting such a long time for an event like that. I was also lucky enough to perform alongside the legendary Lee Lard who is incredibly funny! If you need a comedian for an event – definitely check him out.

So at the moment, everything rests on restrictions being lifted for the Summer. I wait for July 19th and continue to hold my breath. I cannot wait to be back performing for you all and appreciate every opportunity I am given.
